Advisor – Australia & South East Asia

Stephen has been a part of several successful oil and gas exploration teams that have discovered over 5 billion barrels of oil and gas from 1989 to the present. These teams include Enterprise, PanCanadian, Oilexco, Premier, Origin, and Carnarvon. He is best recognized for his contributions as Exploration Manager at Carnarvon Petroleum, leading the discovery of the new Middle Triassic Petroleum System offshore Western Australia, highlighted by the Dorado oil and gas discovery in 2018.

He currently consults as a technical advisor for various companies involved in oil and gas exploration in Australia and South East Asia. Stephen also chairs the Australia Oil and Gas Scout Group, comprising 50 member companies, and co-organizes the Basins Workshop, an annual Australia-wide Petroleum Systems workshop.

He holds an MSc in Sedimentology from the University of London and a PhD in Geophysics from Imperial College London.
